In my early adulthood I remember seeing a brand new VW for $1,900. When it was first introduced in the US people had quite heated descriptions of it. Ugly, squashed, cheap were some of the words I remember.

As I struggled through an early marriage with children I just remember thinking that others make themselves happier through materialistic "things." I never have. If I drove a "cheap car" (VW Not considered cheap anymore..ha) so be it. I was happy because I could afford the car payment.

THIS IS NOT ABOUT THE VOLKSWAGON. IF YOU MARRY FOR MONEY YOU EARN EVERY PENNY as one would say. If you are stuck in a job you hate or a loveless relationship you know exactly what I mean. Happiness to me is being content, being satisfied with what I have...not coveting what others have. Being proud when I can afford something that I want. Paying my own way through life..Seeing my family happy.

One could be absolutely miserable shopping at Saks while someone else would be happy as a clam at Walmart. It's up to you to define your own happiness!

PS...We all have our definition for success, but happiness is difficult to define. It is a feeling that comes from within. I would rather eat a peanut butter sandwich with someone I love or by myself then to eat prime rib with someone I loathe!
