This stoneware bowl is hand built in the shape of a poppy, with the petals curling upwards and carefully formed and textured to make it really look like a flower. I glazed it in Satin White, Celadon Green, and Yellow glazes, and it's breathtakingly pretty in a modern style! It sits on 3 round feet. This one is a good size to use as a soup, salad, or cereal bowl. I like that the stoneware clay make it strong but it seems delicate. It is 6 1/2" round, and 2" tall, and holds 8 oz.
This is a SECOND because the little feet pushed into the flower when I put them on the bottom, making 2 small bumps. It doesn't affect the bowl's function at all and really isn't that big of a deal, but my mom thought I should discount this one bowl because of the bumps. Look at the photos and if you can live with that, enjoy the savings! (regular price: $24)
This is my new poppy shape and I love how it is organic and very wonky, like a real flower. This is one I've done after much practice, and I've finally worked out how to make the shape functional and still sculptural. The inside pistil and stamen are just like the poppies we've planted in our garden.
It is dishwasher, oven, and microwave safe. If you'd like complimentary gift wrapping, just ask in 'message to seller' and tell me what the card should read, too.
