This book is a scream. Titled "Gore and Igor, An Extravaganza", this is a shameless attempt to cash in on the hippy movement at the time the book came out. The publishers and author are not quite "part of the scene" however, which makes it so laughable. Note the cover blurb, "A big, sexy novel about the global youthquake." On the back cover, "Tom Jones, Baby, you've had it! Here come Gore and Igor!" Not cool, despite the effort. Note the woman on the cover - not exactly a hippy chick, although the headband is a lame attempt. She looks like their mother. This is a first paperback edition from 1969. This thing actually came out in hardback in 1967. The pages are clean and crisp. I tried to read it but it was so pretentious I had to stop, although this might be your bag, man. This is worth seeing to believe it. Good for a few laughs as a conversation piece. |
