An amazing end of day transluscent swirl butterscotch, gorgeous rootbeer swirl, and amber apple juice all mixed together, the pictures just don't tell the whole story. I left a bit of the aging patina on each leaf to compliment it's original color. Carved to match the retro look that was once created back in the1930s and 1940s, it shows the true beauty of bakelite as it once was first created. 8 and a half inches with 14k gold plated chain and findings, very thick and chunky. I only use the good stuff- authentic and tested bakelite from estate finds. My products are all individually hand crafted- one at a time. Each shell, button and bakelite piece is personally selected. Each is collected then cleaned, tumbled, crafted or carved. Every piece I create is unique. I use natural or recycled products either for a given purpose, for fun or a beautiful piece of jewelry. I love the idea of re-use and making something unique and new from something old.

Each piece I create from bakelite or catalin is a new carving of a very old and previously enjoyed material. Newly carved and polished bakelite and catalin will not test positive with the standard tests until it has had a chance to age for about 6 months. The bakelite tests used are tests which reacts to the patina, or aging color, so each freshly carved piece needs a bit of time to age. Often, I will try to leave a portion on the inside uncarved so that you may see the aged patina color and so that you may have a positive test area.
