Digital imaging has become an essential practice of astronomy, and virtually all astroimages are acquired by means of specialized CCD cameras or DSLR cameras. These devices require specialized software to properly control image acquisition, and the raw images require specialized processing to bring out the best image possible.PRISM is a multifunctional program that, while very powerful, is usable by all astroimagers from beginner to expert level of experience. It allows acquisition of images with virtually all of the imaging instruments currently available. It provides methods to analyze the images that are acquired and then to perform preprocessing, image combining, and final image processing all within one piece of software. This comprehensive capability of PRISM is its main advantage over using combinations of other software as it avoids incompatibilities.
